Eleventh Week Internship Work

In my eleventh week, I created a logo for Ray’s Auto Body, updated the Color Palettes document for Germantown Sno-Drifters, and tried to figure out how to add another web hosting into my GoDaddy account for my Dad’s VRT site. When creating Ray’s Auto Body’s logo, I took pictures of every license plates from my house that my dad had collected over the years, Ray’s Auto Body’s collection and from other cars. I was able to save the photos of the license plates I found and brought them into Adobe Photoshop. I used the Quick Selection Tool to select the letters I wanted to add and copied and pasted it into a new clipboard. I save every letter into groups called “RAYS”, “AUTO”, and “BODY”. It wasn’t easy creating a license plate logo because every time I would move a layer, I would have to select another layer and use the Eraser tool to make the other layer more visible. I learned a lot on the way creating the logo. When I showed it to my client the next day, they thought it was awesome! When I first added it to the site, I forgot to crop the logo and make the logo transparent. I manage to contact Tammy about the situation and got it fixed. For Germantown Sno-Drifters, I had to update the Color Palettes three to four times because even though I got the color from their logo, they didn’t like how it was set up on the pages. So, I edited the pages, took new screen captures, and I finally knew how to added the logo in the hero image. They wanted some sections of their page red and yellow. I also had a difficult time adding a Contact Form to the Contact page. I first created it from scratch and tried to find resources on how to connect the form to a PHP file. The next step I did was create a form on Google Forms. Then, I saved the form to the Google Drive, went back to Google Sites, and select Forms to add it to the Contact page. It wasn’t too functional so I decided to create a Contact List instead to make it simple. Finally, my client agreed on the change from a Contact Form to a Contact List. For VRT System, I have to figure out how to purchase another web hosting on the my GoDaddy Account since it’s my Dad’s website. I am working on my Portfolio site and I’m having a difficult time adding a hamburger menu for the mobile area. If anyone has any resources on how to create a hamburger menu, please send me it because it will really help me out. I can’t wait to finish up my three internships in the coming weeks.

Eleventh Week Internship Work Comment

  1. Nice work on the logo. I’ve been there too; layer management in Photoshop can be tricky sometimes with multi-layer projects. As tempting as it is sometimes to leave the layer names as their default, it really does help if you go into each layer and label them.

I would recommend this resource for hamburger menus; easy to review the style beforehand and has very snippable code that you can drop in and customize to accomodate just about any site. https://codepen.io/tag/hamburger-menu
